CHECKLIST

Now that you have made that all important decision to change your life and learn to drive, there are a few things that you need to know.

• Have you got your provisional driving licence - If not, you need to apply for this immediately because you can not start learning to drive without one. You can apply online at the DVLA website or get a paper application from your local post office.
• How is your eyesight - Whether you are lucky enough to have good eyesight, or if like me, you wear glasses or contact lenses, a further requirement in learning to drive is your ability to read a number plate. If you are at all unsure about this, contact your optician who will be able to help you. The distance requirement for the eyesight test using old style number plates is 20.5 metres or 20 metres if the new-style number plate is used. New-style number plates are easily identifiable starting with two letters. for example BC 51 ABC.
• Have you got yourself a Highway Code - This is just one of the books that will provide you with so much useful information that you can read at home in your own time and will also help you with topics and lessons that we cover in your driving lessons. It only costs £2.50, well worth the price.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT ME

I have been running my own driving school for over three years. I believe that I am fast becoming a premier driving school in Sheffield thanks to my focus on creating a patient, relaxed and friendly atmosphere for my pupils.

It is an atmosphere that allows you to flourish and removes much of the pressure associated with getting behind the wheel whether for the first time or not. We are all very different people which is what makes us individual and that is why lessons are tailored to suit you.

I am sure that you will have seen me on the road. My car is a SEAT and the model is an Altea. It's very modern, comfortable, with climate control and is very easy to handle when you are learning to drive.The car is manual. Learning to drive in a manual car means that once you have passed your test, if you chose to do so, you can also drive an automatic car. However, learning to drive in an automatic car means that you cannot then drive a manual car without first taking and passing a practical test in a manual car. I do have dual controls for those first early lessons you take.
